We recently completed a trial with Russells Hall Hospital as part of their ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being of patients undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT). During this trial, icesupp was provided to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings to evaluate its benefits.
Many of the Oncology and Haematology patients at Russells Hall Hospital experience taste changes or even a complete loss of taste due to their treatments, significantly impacting their oral intake. Finding a solution to make food and drink more palatable is crucial for maintaining their nutritional status and overall comfort.
During the trial, patients suffering from mucositis, a common and often painful side effect of cancer treatments were included. The results were overwhelmingly positive. Patients found that icesupp provided a soothing effect, helping to alleviate discomfort. More importantly, they appreciated the vibrant flavours which, in many cases, were the only tastes they could detect. Patients reported that the colder temperature and intense flavours made it easier to consume, offering relief from oral dryness and soreness. The feedback from both patients and staff was overwhelmingly positive. The ease of use, effectiveness in providing relief, and palatable flavours made icesupp a standout choice for those struggling with the side effects of cancer treatments.
Based on our findings, Russells Halls Hospital have said they will continue to recommend icesupp to their patients, ensuring they have access to a product that truly enhances their nutrition, hydration and overall treatment experience.
